An award-winning architect’s house that stands out from the rural surroundings because of its expressive forms has been extensively renovated. The renovation included all surfaces including floors, wall surfaces and ceilings. By removing partitions between the kitchen, living and living room, a more spacious ground-floor unit was created. A special feature is the cathedral-like staircase, it was designed more simply in the renovation, the wooden ceilings were replaced by white ceilings in drywall. This emphasizes the play of light through the windows. The openings to the garden have been enlarged with sliding doors, emphasizing the connection to the spacious garden.
The material concept is kept minimally table. The materials are reduced to wood in natural oak for the floors, stair coverings, windows, window sills and handrails. The wall surfaces, as well as interior doors and fittings were kept white. In order to emphasize the simplicity of the internals, all internals were designed to be flush with the surface.
